When you look at the world, what do you see?

Updated: Mar 25, 2018

What I know for sure...

Although I may not have realized it until recently, we have the power to make a difference in the world. Even just in the smallest of ways. I used to think that our situations defined us and that the choice to thrive was left to how strong we were, how tolerant we were of our circumstances. I know for sure that finding a deep sense of gratitude for the ordinary, celebrating everyday accomplishments, spreading kindness, appreciating relationships, supporting the community and working towards something bigger than ourselves determines the significance of the life we lead.

Nelson Mandela wrote - 'What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead."

Knowing who we are and living by our values allows us to find joy in our journey.

Despite what life throws at you, you always have the power to overcome it. Things may not occur as you envisaged but life is about living the seasons and being grateful for your blessings......finding lessons in your struggles. Gratitude turns what we have into enough and more.

We cannot always control our life journey but we can own our journey and take responsibility for our life. We are not defined by our circumstances. If we embrace who we are instead of who we think we should be there is a deep sense of freedom that comes and a quiet confidence that whatever is thrown your way, you can handle.

If you have read my bio you will see we are a family of 3 and our handsome little "frog" has lead us on quite the journey. Ashton is not defined by his disability in fact, he is so much more and in an incredible way is teaching me about the world.

It is the lessons I have learned as Mum to Ashton, through looking at the world from his perspective that I sit here today and write this blog.

The first step in changing the world is sharing and impacting someone's life. When we embrace empathy and give our time to a greater cause, our days are filled with a greater sense of purpose and meaning. Giving our time and energy to something we are truly passionate about allows us to step forward into growth.

Its easy to think that as an individual the impact we have is insignificant BUT we each are significant in our own way. Imagine if every person made a positive change, the accumulative effect would be huge.

By understanding how our choices effect the world around us, we can make an impact. Always remember that we have a choice, so don't let anything hinder or hold you up in anyway. Don't be afraid to step up and into your power, you never know whose watching and who just might need to experience your courage and your kindness. Those who will find hope in your authenticity, your commitment, your truth and vulnerability. Those who choose a path to their best self simply because of your gratitude, your love and your vision.

What does your world look like today? What small choices can you make today to step forward into growth?

Love Katie
